Who can apply for this kind of visa?

a) Technicians, Researchers y Scientists invited or hired by Spanish authorities or public institutions.

b) Teachers, Technicians, Researchers and Scientists invited or hired by a Spanish University to carry out teaching, research or academic tasks.

c) Foreign directors or teachers from state-owned or private cultural/ educational institutions that will carry out cultural or educational programs in Spain.

d) Civil or military officials from Foreign States Administrations that come to Spain to perform activities under co-operational agreements with the Spanish Administration.

e) Correspondents from foreign media duly accredited as correspondents or special envoys.

f) Members of International Scientific Missions duly authorised by the relevant Administration.

g) Artists who will perform in Spain for a period no longer than five continuous days or twenty performance days within a period of up to six months.

h) Religious ministers and members of the different Churches, faiths and religious communities, as well as professed members of religious orders registered in the Ministry of Justice. The entity they are depending on must be in charge of their accommodation and living expenses.

i) Members from the representative, governmental and administrative organs of internationally recognized trade unions and employers’ organizations.

j) Foreign minors in working age, under the tutelage of child welfare organizations, for those activities that, proposed by the organization, will help their integration in society.

1. REQUIREMENTS AND DOCUMENTS IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER

National visa application form:
https://www.exteriores.gob.es/en/EmbajadasConsulados/Documents/Consular/20210611-Formulario%20nacional%20espa%c3%b1ol-ingl%c3%a9s.pdf for activities with more than 90 days duration; or a Schengen visa (short-term) application form for activities under 90 days. The form must be filled out in block capitals or typed, (no Chinese characters). It must include some contact information (mobile phone, email) to be used in case of notifications and requirements. A photocopy of the first page of the application form shall be enclosed. It will be stamped by the consular office and returned to the applicant as a receipt.

2) One recent passport-size colour photograph (3.5 X 4.5 cm) with white background

3) Hukou: original and photocopy of all the pages, with Spanish translation.

4) Ordinary passport with at least one year validity and with at least two blank pages.

5) Photocopy of all the passport pages.

6) All documents proving that the applicant meets all the requirements and matches one the profiles described above. In the case of artists, they will also have to attach a copy of their contract and an account of the authorizations or licences for the performance of their activity.

7) For stays over 90 days and for applicants over the age of criminal responsibility, Criminal Record Certificate or its equivalent, issued by the authorities from the applicant’s country/es of residence for the last five years, translated and legalised (original and photocopy). This document has three months validity.

8) For stays over 90 days, Health Certificate, issued by one of the medical centres designated by this General Consulate, certifying that the applicant does not suffer from any disease potentially dangerous for public health according to the International Health Regulation from 2005 (original and photocopy).

9) For stays over 90 days, public or private Health Insurance contracted with an insurer authorized to operate in Spain.

10) For stays under 90 days, Travel Health Insurance, individual or collective. The insurance must cover all the expenses for medical assistance and repatriation arising from accidents or sudden illness. The minimum coverage of the insurance shall be 30.000 Euros (or its equivalent in RMB).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Please DO NOTE that all the documents must be translated into Spanish. The processing time for applications is 15 days for stays under 90 days and 1 month for stays over 90 days.
• This Consulate General may summon the applicant for a personal interview when deemed necessary.
• This Consulate General reserves itself the right to request any further additional documents as considered necessary.
• Any additional documents or other requirements shall be provided within 10 working days.
• Applicants may pick up their visas in person within a month upon visa issuance communication. Failure to do so may be considered as renunciation to the visa
• The issued visa will include the initial residence authorization and its validity will start at the moment of entry in Spain.
• The applicant must enter Spanish territory within the three-month entry period specified in the visa.
• The applicant must personally apply for the Spanish Foreigner ID (Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero- NIE) at the corresponding Immigration Office or Police Station within a month after entry.
• The information printed on the visa should be checked by the applicant upon its collection. The collection of the visa entails the tacit acceptance of the information contained therein.

The photograph should be in colour and:

• Photos should be taken within the last 6 months and cannot be reused.
• No glasses or accessories are allowed.
• Photos can not be retouched or photoshopped.
• Taken against a light background (white or off-white) so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
• Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
• Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
• Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
• Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.
