Important Notice for Visa Applications in the Chengdu Consular Jurisdiction
Latest notice: in cases involving parental financial support, a Schengen visa (except for a student visa) requires the original and a copy of the birth certificate. For Schengen student visas and all types of national visas: a notarized and legalized/apostilled Spanish translation of the medical birth certificate must be submitted.
Visa applicants in the Chengdu Jurisdiction, please note the following requirements:
Visa applications by spouses of EU citizens:
A valid marriage certificate with an EU citizen issued in an EU country must be submitted.
If the marriage was registered in a non-EU country, the marriage certificate must be notarized and legalized/authenticated in order to benefit from the visa fee exemption.
Schengen visa applications by students without personal income:
A notarized proof of financial sponsorship must be submitted.
If applying for a long-term student visa, the proof of financial sponsorship must be both notarized and legalized/authenticated.
Schengen visa applications by minors:
The original and a copy of the birth certificate must be submitted.
Please prepare all required documents well in advance according to your application category.
Schengen visa applicants in the Chengdu Consular Jurisdiction, please note:
When submitting a Schengen visa application, you must submit bank statements for at least the last 6 months.
Please prepare in advance and ensure that all materials are complete.
Special Reminder on Parental Travel Authorization for Minors for Spanish Visa Applications in the Chengdu Consular Jurisdiction
Dear visa applicants:
For visa applications for minors traveling alone or with one parent/guardian to Spain, according to the requirements of the Chengdu Consular Jurisdiction, please note the following rules:
If the minor travels alone: a travel authorization issued by both parents or legal guardians must be provided.
If the minor travels with one parent or guardian: a travel authorization issued by the other parent or guardian who is not traveling must be provided.
The above authorization must be notarized by a notary public and apostilled (Hague Apostille/Apostille Certificate). In particular, the notarial certificate must include a Spanish translation. Please ensure that the translation is accurate and complete; otherwise, the visa application may be returned or delayed.
Applicants are advised to prepare in advance to avoid affecting their travel plans.
Dear applicants in the Chengdu Jurisdiction:
If you need to apply for RES, please note that when submitting bank account or financial information, you must include the following:
The full name and registered address of the bank or credit institution.
Complete identification details of the account.
The date of account opening or closing; if applicable, the dates of authorization grant and revocation.
The account balance as of December 31 of the year preceding the application submission, and the average balance for the previous year.
For long-term visas, especially the non-lucrative visa, the Consulate General of Spain in Chengdu requires that a consent statement issued by one parent (which must be notarized, apostilled, and translated into Spanish) include the following consent:
(Father/Mother) consents to his/her child (name, date of birth, passport number) applying for a visa to travel to Spain and reside there, enroll in school, and live with his/her father/mother (name, date of birth, passport number).
For family travel, when both parents travel to Spain with minor children, both parents must sign the minor authorization.
